Many a times, women are blamed for being the materialistic one in a relationship. They are blamed for being the 'razor blade', for being the reason why men get piles of credit card debts to please their woman's insatiable thirst for shopping.
I can safely say, I'm not one of those. And I'm sure many out there agrees with me in this becoming of an alpha-female world.
I have learnt hardship from a young age. I have never been the type to ask for money to satisfy my desires for branded clothes, expensive bags and fancy shoes. I was always the plain jane who wears hand me down clothes and will take months of saving my pocket money just to buy a mere tshirt. In my lifetime, I have only owned one pair of Levis jeans which was bought with the money I earned from internship during poly days. The times I asked for moolahs was all for my education needs. And yes, those rare treats from Mom and Dad as rewards when I pass major exams like the PSLE, O Levels and upon receiving my diploma. So I dare say that I earned those treats after I have worked for it. And of course, I do get to buy stuff only after Mom or Dad prompted to pay for me..hehe.
The habit has been brought down till now, where I will pay for my own shopping. Waiting for 'someone' to get me 'something' seems like a little hard, so when I said I'll get it myself, I was told I was showing disrespect for that 'someone'. I do agree with that, but I guess I'm just so used to getting my own stuff at my own pace. I never meant to show disrespect, but that's the way I am. But that is not to say I do not dream on being lavished upon with gifts from a someone like other girls do. To me, even a nice dinner is a treat by itself.
So my point here is, not every woman needs a man to satisfy her spendings. This is not saying that a woman does not need a man at all, coz hey, which straight thinking girl refuses a handsome man ey?
And she waves goodbye...
