National Day is just 2 days away, but I've celebrated it in advance in the weekends beforehand. thanks to the National Day shows that I had to perform.

Sat was a National Day dinner performance for Canberra district. We performed 2 dances, and we really enjoyed ourselves on stage, despite an encounter Erika had. We were given the CD shelter as our holding area, and after our first dance, she decided to change at the dark, back area. Suddenly she ran out, panting, and her face was very pale. We knew then she encountered 'something', but didnt ask her till we were backstage waiting to perform our 2nd dance. Apparently, she heard that thing hissing her name repeatedly behind her neck, and without turning back to look, it was then she ran out. Those of us who were there, went silent after she told us the story. After the show, we quickly packed our stuff and went out of that place. EEee...

And then it was a chalet night at ... the CC! Hamzah made arrangements for us to sleepover at the CC coz we have to leave very early the next morning, at 7am for another National Day event at Toh Guan. At 1 am sharp, we 'sneaked' into the CC and settled into our room, and started to lay out the mats and the comforters. Ajid was allowed to stay in with us as well, and he brought me his sleeping bag. Typical sweet him. After a good late dinner and shower, we started to settle in and just as I was about to drift off to sleep, we were woken up for a last minute training and brainstorming. Y? Coz our dance formation had to change coz the stage was around. I was frustrated as I was soo tired already, but still, I just did what I had to. By the time I slept, it was 3.30am.

Sunday:
5.30am - All awake! It was a mad rush of shower, makeup, hair and costume, the usual drill. Had to complete my eyeshadow and eyebrows in the bus. Apparently, the show is a combination of the Northwest CDC zones. When we got there, the field was empty, but when it stroke 8am, the crowd from all the CDCs started to come in.

This is only about a quarter of the crowd from where I was standing. Got to take pics even while standing by!

After the boring first item, it was our turn.

A nice shot of me onstage that Ajid snapped.

Our item was given a loud applause and cheers after.

But the best part was the finale. All performers had to sing 3 songs on stage, while waving the mini Singapore flags we got. It was such a nice feeling to be up there, followed by the National Anthem and the pledge. Goodness knows when was the last time I recited the pledge! Suddenly feeling feeling patriotic like that. Even on an open field, they managed to release confetti, and we enjoyed ourselves on stage. Mny reporters and photographers took snapshots of us, and the MP, Dr Vivian Balakhrishan, jumped in to take photos with us! Of course we took the oppotunity to shake hands with him ... he's such a friendly guy!

Patriotic Me. Happy Birthday Singapore!

After which, it was back to the CC to catch up on the snooze ...

*Special mentions : Thanks to darling Mum for the understanding and the doses of coffee. And to Ajid for being there and supporting me, as always.

And to ChannelNewsAsia for showing my face!

And she waves goodbye...
