How many girls can actually fix their own shoes? Will they even bother in the first place? They will probably just buy new ones once the pair they have has gone beyond it's 'COE entitlement'.
Well, not for me. I think three times before making any purchase coz, for the simple reason that I'm not from a well-to-do family. We have been through very rough times, and I seem to treasure what I have now even more. So I became cobbler lady, replacing the worn-out rubber on my favourite covered pink heels, and fixing the peeled-out soles with super glue. Cheapskate? Think whatever you want to. I still love the pairs I have, so I'm gonna make full 200% usage of them.
Which brings me to this lil topic of the day that gorgeous Erika and I chatted about over teh tarik at Beach Road. We find that people, at one look at us, think that we are the type that don't patronise hawker centres. Ajid also once told me a nong nong tyme ago that he thought I'm not one who patronizes these type of food places. Of course, when he found out that I am a maniac over the seafood at Newton, he became delirious with happiness coz he loves the seafood there as well (without burning his pockets). But I kinda regretted telling him coz when we first started dating, he was bringing me to places like Swensens and Fish & Co, which I have never dined at before I met him. Nak amik hati lah katakan.. Haha!
Anyways, Erika and me were wondering what might give people that kind of impression about us. Is it the way we dress, or the way we carry ourselves? Or maybe we just have faces that spell 'classy' over our foreheads? I beg to differ. Places like Swensens, Breeks, Pasta Mania, even Fish & Co, are only places we dine at on special occasions. Like this year's Mother's Day, we forbid Mum to cook and treated her to Breeks. Even then, I have to confess, that was a first for me!

Breeks on Mum's Day
Lucky are those peeps who have the luxury to eat at these type of places at any time they wish. But then again, being me, it would be such a bore to eat at these places regularly. The certain 'standard' we have to behave while at these places will just suffocate me. I don't think others there would appreciate the way I talk and laugh loudly. Coz it seems quite uncivilised ryte ...?
Which reminds me - Gorgeous, shall we go Newton one of these weekends? I'm missing the sambal sotong and stingray ...
And she waves goodbye...
